Where does the Foundation focus it’s grantmaking?

Our giving focus is place-based in the following neighborhoods:

• Near North, Minneapolis (including Hawthorne, Harrison, Jordan, Near North, Sumner-Glenwood, and Willard Hay)
• Phillips–Powderhorn, Minneapolis (including East Phillips, West Phillips, Midtown Phillips, Ventura Village, Central, Corcoran and Powderhorn)
• Frogtown–Summit University, St. Paul (including Frogtown, Rondo, Summit-University, and Thomas–Dale)

May I send a proposal for the Pohlad Family Foundation to consider? 

Announcements regarding open funding opportunities are shared with grantee partners. The Pohlad Family Foundation does not accept unsolicited funding proposals.

Does the Foundation give money to individuals or families?

The Foundation is not able to give directly to individuals. We provide grants to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations and on a very limited basis, to government entities.

Does the Foundation fund work outside of Housing Justice?

To make the greatest impact and address community needs, the Foundation’s giving is focused on our Housing Justice programs within three designated neighborhoods. We do not consider grants outside of this focus area or region.

Does the Foundation support events such as benefits or galas?

No, we do not support or sponsor fundraising events.

How will I know if my grant request has been funded? 

All applicants receive grant decisions in writing. Opportunities for feedback are extended to all grant-seekers whose proposals are declined.

Are Foundation staff available to meet with nonprofit representatives to discuss funding opportunities?
