Racial Justice Grants Committee

The Racial Justice Grants Committee was formed in 2020 and plays a key role in advancing our Racial Justice program. This is the first time in our history that community members are active in the decision-making and strategy-setting for a Foundation program.

We established the grants committee as a way to directly share power and decision-making, and learn from the community. Committee members bring in additional expertise and perspectives, particularly those who are actively involved in their own communities and know those priorities and needs. We also believe that different perspectives help us make better decisions that ultimately affect individuals.

The committee is made up of eight members who are responsible for setting direction, priorities and strategies. They also recommend and approve grants with guidance and technical support from Foundation staff.
