In 2018, we invested a total of $8 million in our Homelessness Prevention Program. These two-year grants supported the work of 28 organizations. Organizations were given the opportunity to apply for a third year of support in 2020, totaling an additional $3.5 million in grants. Racial Justice Grants
________
In June 2020, the Pohlad family committed $25 million to advance racial justice solutions in the Twin Cities area. Their commitment was in direct response to the murder of George Floyd and ensuing uprising in May 2020, and a strong desire to address the deeply ingrained, systemic racism in our country. The family’s commitment enabled us to quickly establish a new focus area for grantmaking, dedicated specifically to racial justice.
Rebuild and Recovery grants: The Racial Justice Grants Committee approved $2.7 million in grants to support recovery and rebuilding efforts in the summer of 2020. View the full list of organizations that received this funding.
Reimagining Public Safety grants: Community advocates, people who have experienced negative encounters with police, as well as state, county and city leaders, and law enforcement all contributed to the implementation of this program. View organizations that received this funding.
Responsive grants: In addition to our program grants, we provide flexible, responsive grantmaking. This allows us to support a variety of opportunities as they arise. Foundation leadership makes recommendations and approves these types of grants to ensure that they align with our existing initiatives. View the responsive grants we have made to date.
